Percolate….
I was flipping channels and happened to watch some kid’s show that talked about new words to add to our vocabulary and the new word of the day was: Percolate. Based on reading various definitions, the world Percolate seems to mean a seeping through, a slow infusion, a slow evolution of a substance or concept into a permeable body of material or permeable thinking.
I like to think that we are all very permeable and that we let things percolate over time. As kids, we surely do as there is so much that comes our way and is brought to us by our family and our schooling. Then as we go to college or learn a trade, the same Percolation continues. We soak up all we get exposed to like a piece of foam. We work and work and soon we get conditioned and less permeable as we seem to “know” more than we need to learn. We have opinions, views and get hard set in our thinking and beliefs. We really loose our permeability to let new thing percolate in us.
So, I ask you to percolate on the above and be open like the open face of your palm vs. holding a fist to new ideas and new experiences. No one is asking us to change in an instant or forcing us to accept anything at all. But if we open our ability to be permeable and let new experiences, new learnings, new ideas percolate…just maybe over time…things will slowly seep into us. Let’s make things percolate……
Be Mindful.
