March Madfullness!
It’s March 1st and it’s time for March Madness soon for all of us who follow college basketball! This year, we will still have some form of March Madness, be it limited with the pandemic….and I sure hope all of us enjoy it to the fullest extent we can. We have to support the college athletes and all their hard work since they were kids.
So, I couldn’t help today coining the term: March Madfullness….haha! Now what the heck do I mean by Madfullness which is constantly showing up as spelling error as I write this log. It ain’t a word per the elite dictionaries of the world…but then who really cares? I have always been a word smith and like to come up with my own terms and coin my own words since I was a kid.
Madfullness is to me the result of MindFULLness…notice just adding an extra “L” can completely change the meaning of a word. (Mindfulness+L=Mindfullness) and Mindfullness leads to Madfullness. So, for those of you mathematically inclined…here’s my new Equation:
[Mindfulness + L] = Mindfullness >>>Madfullness™
Now you may be thinking I’m off my rockers and have become mad myself…haha! But think about it…we all are constantly bombarded with information and sensory overload leading us to feeling pressured, restless and overwhelmed…really resulting in a mind that is always FULL…a state of Mindfullness where we cannot find space, time or any realm of stillness or simply pause. We run around trying to perform multiple tasks all at one time without focus. It reminds me a lot of the hours I have spent at the San Diego Zoo Chimpanzee Exhibit where my long lost brothers, the chimps are monkeying around like they always do! Heck, don’t we all monkey around too! Sometimes due to our circumstances and sometimes out of our choice. This state of the mind being FULL invariably lands us into a state of being MAD and not in control of ourselves. Thus my Eureka Moment today that Mindfullness leads to Madfullness!
So, how do we cope with this state of being mad….well, per my equation above, we simply need to remove one L from the left hand side of the = sign. Could that L stand for “Let Go”? If we let go from time to time and just be still…we can quickly transform into being less Madfull which will help us become less Mindfull and then result in being MINDFUL.
Mindfulness as defined by Mindful-CPA is the Art of Focus with Full Awareness. Being more mindful will makes us focus better and make us more creative, balanced and effective in all things we do.
So, join me this March in being more Mindful and less Mindfull & Madfull and have fun with March Madfullness!
Pause and Let Go. Be Mindful.
